Tanking! Help!

In 14 seasons I've been in the top 4 every year, with a handful of championships. This season I started an appalling 0-3-7. I resigned the season, purchasing high quality 18 and 19 year old players. 5 of which are now scouts. My team went went on a roll and I'm 3 points out of 7th, albeit with - 3 goal differential. I built this team for next year at the same level, with a goal of a cup run, since no Champions league next season

I still want these players to progress, but I'm not playing for less than 4th. Is a bad formation the best way to go? Or mess up players positions a better strategy? Does attending matches hurt an effort to tank? Doesn't feel like possession determines a good number of matches. I need to add a free kick specialist to this team, but I I need to lose, because I won't get the prize money I need to pay at the next level.
I can sell my soul to tap joy for more tokens, but I want to take this team for a run at a triple crown two seasons from now, but I need another season right where I am.

I tank at least one account every season. This season, only one, while I am going for 1st with the other 4.

I show up for every game just to make sure I get the green pack for the sub. you cant go wrong with free greens.

I do the U formation with the GK out and your ST in goal. Dont play any player in their proper position and play NORMAL and MIXED and EASY tackle.

Since you tank, you will save your skill points and should have no problem getting the 40 required for the freekick SA.

remember to switch ST with GK and dont play anyone in their proper positions and you should lose 9 out of 10 games at least.
