Season 7 and 8 he was still pretty good, but by season 9 he was pretty much done.

I obviously don't regret spending 50 tokens on him, but it's not something I would want to make a habit of.
Is it always cheaper to replace rather than train then?

Dunno, I've never had thousands.. for BvB I go through about 300 a season. Other teams it's either in game only or on a couple I watch vids for greens, adding maybe 30 something to the in game/gifts.

Other than BvB I don't strive to have a solid five star team.

They look more like this, a 35T team, finished 2nd last season:

Expressed above is my own opinion. Your results may vary.

I never brought scout because I never have sufficient tokens. It is looked like a great gamble. It you do not satisfy, tokens have been used and there is no turn around. If I have many tokens, I still prefer to use auction market to buy players. Tokens can be used to train. if traing is slow, I can stop wasting tokens and even sell him. The cost is low and this way also has more options and fun

If you want to train up your players, don't buy scouts. Buy a 5 star super fast trainer and start feeding him greens.

Scouts are for "win now" mode, fast trainers can be trained up to 7 star relatively quickly, but don't bother going higher, law of diminishing returns kicks in.

If the player need 2.2 Green pack (i.e. 36% condition) to gain 1 sp, his training efficiency is only average. Your green packs are better to be used for other players.

If your scout players are 6* and their improvement is slow, he already has sufficient quality to play in your level and you need not to train him if it is not efficiency. Performance is another thing to consider. Even low quality players can be good performer and contributors.

The 'Scout' method has been devalued by the recent change. I used to buy very occasionally @50T seemed to be 'guaranteed' a good player. Now with the T differences it is not viable from an economics or 'opportunity cost' reason. Don't go anywhere near scouts unless you are really really desperate.

You could make this calculation (very round numbers)

    69 Tokens = 75 Greens
    75 greens = 75x1.2 skillpoint = 90 skillpoints (fasttrainer)

You can make an ordinary 5 star fasttrainer very good for that much tokens, and if hes 18 he will continue developing, an 22 yeared has already halved his learning curve (over the hill)
So in my oppinion Nordgens is best value for money/tokens

Scout Market players are meant to be Impact Players - their just not as good at that as they were either. A Scout Market capture is highly unlikely to maintain 6* for the length of his contract now unless he's given extra training. Nordeus not only went mega-balanced on their ass but also nerfed them by 1-15 sp and charged more.

Ordinarily they are/were the Cherry on the Top and I also like the mixed approach of Academy, NordGens, Scout Market and One Season Wonders - but the 'Scout' bit doesn't feature for me now.

PS. If you don't know what will happen - come here and ask. Plenty here have made mistakes you can learn from, if you want.
