Squad Rotation/Substitution run outs is it worth it?

I have noticed if you leave players out of the squad even for one game their morale drops slightly. Then I would have to use blue packs.

Should managers bother with rotation at all (unless there are injuries/drop in form/tiredness) ?

I have tried to give my squad game-time as it will improve thier skill points and make substitutions where I possible to give them a "run out". Particularly against poor opposition.

But I noticed sometimes the player substituted says he is "not about about it". Does this mean the morale of the player will be affected?

Should I just stick to exactly the same XI instead week in week out and not make any substitutions except for injuries or tactical reasons.

I try out different things early in the season. I want to know which players I can count on, and which ones I can't. Once this is established, I go from there.

I run with two squads early in the season but as the Cup/CL games get more serious they tend to amalgamate and I find a nucleus of the squad will play most games, with one or two replacements per game from the lesser quality players...

depends with me as only had 1 game a day after meeting a team that was NOT my Quality in prelims of cup but even so if was 2 even 3 comps i try and keep same 11 with 3 player`s too cover for injuries/suspensions

Morale : no one knows how exactly morale is working
Maybe you can have some answers or opinions from other members (or read old ones) but I believe that only nordeus developers know the right answer and I 'm not sure about it :p
Morale for me is working like an indicator - if it's dropping a lot, the player is going in a de-form period
If it's in green/light green bar, it's ok
If I have an important match (league, semi finals) I give extra morale boosters so everybody have perfect
- I don't know how % can help but you know, do the right thing.
A player with low morale (below light green bar) is vulnerable to an injury.
Some times, morale is dropping without a reason. I had a player who's morale was "very poor" but his rates was 7-8-8-7-8 (not bad for MC :) ). I gave him 2 blues, he played good, scored 1 goal, got an 8 and every body was happy (this happened today).

From what I have observed, morale is actually linked to in-game events. A successful event increases the player's morale while a failure decreases it. The effect is instant, it happens during a game in progress. A player with high rating will therefore gain morale after a match, because the number of success is more than failure.

The only visible effect of morale value is the possession alone, low morale lead to low possession.
Which makes attacking mentality only useful if your team morale is high for most games.

I did not find any solid relation between morale and player performance. A team with very low morale is perfectly capable to produce excellent results using the correct tactics.

I've found that blue packs are easily gained from games.

Work out when you can't win anything for the rest of the season, or if you have hit the objective you want and let the moral sink and just save the blue packs. Also remember that 2 blues used together will fill a players moral, regardless of how bad it was before - so never used just one blue pack at a time as its not the best way to get value.

Personally I've found blue packs quickly mount up. Ive over 1,700 of them and have never farmed any extra as I simply don't use them that often. If you can go a few weeks without using them I think you will find you will always have more than what you need.

comments of the games are random. Most of them are copy from real football games but the use of some expression doesn't mean anything more than a "spicy" view of a match.
If one player miss scoring, the game chooses between some comments like
"it almost went in", "poor effort for ...", "it hit the crossbar" ...
None of them means anything but the fail of our player to score.
If a player got sub, the game pick also a random expression which doesn't mean anything than our player is out of the game.
I had (sub) comments like
"great game for ..." for a player who got subbed at 5' min. :o
"... doesn't look pleased from his sub" (or something like this), when my player was injured :p

Having a bench is useful for depth. If you're only playing in one competition the only depth you need be concerned with is covering injuries.

However if you're playing in the cup and/or champions league, having a bench allows you to rest players and conserve green packs if you have a league match in close proximity to the cup/cl match.

I'm having a problem with morale, last 5/6 games of last season and beginning of this. On an unbeaten run in that time too. Wake up every morning to find players morale has dropped. Have only bought 2 players, so don't think I've unsettled the squad, although there on better money than the original players. Its not as though their form has dipped either, should I expect one?

What are your goals? Do you focus on the league, or also want to compete in the Champions League and Cup?

If you want to be good in all competitions, you have to rotate.

Young players get tired when playing 90 minutes or training hard, but they gain skill points faster. You want to have other guys to back them up.

Older players get tired faster than, say, 23 to 27 year olds. You want to sub them out sometimes to prevent injury.

If you want to compete for more than one title and manage energy levels, you must rotate.

I try to win everything I enter but I am not that bothered if I get knocked out of the cup competition. I find that the cup is too early in the season for me and it does not give me time to make changes to my team.
For this reason I prefer the Champions League and League. There are plenty of chances to rectify previous errors. I try to get to the quarter finals/semi finals of the champions league, at least. I also try and win the league/make sure I qualify for the champions league.

From a substitutions perspective I noticed that I rotate about 4 players max to keep the squad fresh. I always bring on a least two subs if I am watching a game.
I am only level 4 at the moment so I do not know if these tactics will work at higher levels where there are not as many dead/tanking teams.

Morale does drop seemingly randomly in between games. I am constantly checking the team and have noticed many times where players morale was perfect after a match and then right before the next one it had dropped. No roster changes, no signings, nothing at all to indicate why it happened.

I go into every single match with all 11 at 100% morale. I am a hard attacking manager, the possession is needed although not 100% required. I missed most of a match today against a CL opp that was less than 1* below me. I ended the match with 52% but had 3x the shots on target and won 4-0 on the road.

Possession is an indicator of talent disparity and morale. The other main indicator of talent disparity is not really having many more shots or on targets but the % of on targets that go in.

Since starting my new team back at lvl 1 last season I have not had a worse % in any match and I have not lost any match. In the past when I lost or drew it was always because I failed to get my shots on target enough.

Not sure if it is the hard attacking mentality or just a flaw in the game engine but I find that even the most vastly outmatched opps get too many shots and on targets, they just fail to take advantage of them and there is a higher % of blocks and saves.

I think if you are so much better that you have 80% possession then it is highly unlikely the team your facing will get off many shots. Even looking at some good performances between EPL sides you see Chelsea hold lesser sides to 1-2 on targets and it isn't that rare. The gap in talent between my club and a lot of my opps is much higher than any in La Liga much less the EPL.

Maybe I misjudge the gap but I doubt it. A 3* talent gap is huge and leads to ridiculous score lines of 10-0, 12-0, 14-0 that you never see in real professional matches. So how the team that loses 12-0 and has only 20% possession gets off 15+ shots and 5-6 on target is way beyond any logic I can come up with.

in another thread, they said morale can drop after the server restarts. Which explains the difference in morale from a game ending to the next one, the next day. Also 1 day is supposed to equal one week, so makes since that it could go down, players aren't constantly happy...
