(L17) Mimonos FC 1-4 July Fourth (L16) Royal Rumble Cup Preliminary 1st Leg
Mimonos FC 99.5 4-1-2-1-2 Narrow Diamond - July Fourth 100.1 3-5-2 V-Style

The Nordeus FA sent us a brochure this morning given us the details of a new Royal Rumble style cup competition with 128 teams involved of almost the same amount of quality each, obviously the board of directors were not too amused over this initially with plenty of press releases saying that their recent investments on strong players have fallen foul because of the new cup with us being L16 having to play mostly L17 and L18 teams in this competition this season. But we are the champions of the cup having won it the last 3 seasons and guess what Mimonos were also cup winners last season with 8 cups in their history but they were founded 6 months before us. But despite disliking the new cup format as we would of prefered the 'banded' level system that many club chairmen proposed but they voted for the Royal Rumble Cup instead. We decided to get our players ready and pumped up for a difficult game this evening away in Czech Republic and we decided at the last hour, why not give it a shot? after all its a new competition and obviously we want to compete against good teams.

July Fourth got the game underway and within 5 minutes we won a free-kick and Mensah with the duties got it on target for only it to be put out for corner, in come the corner from novotny and Zidane was in with the header to give July Fourth the lead and he got his 100th goal for July Fourth, but as expected the game was tight and Adams and Novotny were winning tackles and kept us in the lead, Papaleo on the 31st minute broke through the defence and quickly got 1v1 against the keeper and made no mistake to make it 2-0 to July Fourth, Tony Adams then got a yellow card for a trip and Mimonos had a free-kick which Elcicegi curled it right round the wall to beat David Seaman on his debut, Chuck Norris was having an average game and was cutting out challenges and making a few fouls and living up to his name at half-time we decided to make a substitution, we brought of Michu and brought on Miku, and once the second half started L.McNamara had a long range shot from 25 meters that was struck well and out the keepers reach to give July Fourth a 3-1 lead and 3 minutes later Alex Zidane got his brace of the game with a well timed thunderbolt, the home team then were creating most of the opportunites after this and our 6 man midfield at this point we had swapped a ST for a AMC and the decision almost paid off after Miku struck a very powerful shot at goal that was just off-target and the keeper would not of got to that and it would of been 5-1. But we saw the game out in good fashion and look likely to go to the Qualifying Round of the Royal Rumble Cup.

Goals: Zidane (5,49) Elcicegi (35) Papaleo (31) L.McNamara (46) MOTM: Zidane.
