It's always been motley, but can't compare with the scene from 70s, 80s, 90s... Former Yugoslavia popular music scene was probably one of the biggest in the world, if you exclude US and UK... The only reason why many of those bands or musicians are not worldwide famous is language, they didn't have ambition or reason to sing in English... The best bands had at least 365 concerts per year, all over Yugoslavia...
What kind of music you like? I can recommend tons of it...
I'm all over the place.
If i was in a club in Miami/NY or Europe I'd want to listen to DJ Sander Kleinenberg, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, or someone similar.
If I'm at home with my wife and kids, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Bob Marley, Motown, etc.
If I'm working at my local club or at a wedding where It's not really so much my choice, but what I have to play it would be Daft Punk top 40 nu disco. All these new pop songs coming out have a Nu Disco feel that work well on the floor and you can beat match in lesser known club favorites with the current top 40 stuff.
I love all the 80's and 90's alternative groups too like New Order, the Cure, The Stone Roses,
My favorite artist this week is this guy...
