you cannot say the first picture guy a "kid", but I 'm not sure he didn't brake anything at that moment - lol
Teda won a match using all my bench players against a weak team in CL group game, a 1:0 win. Nothing to talk about, but it tells me that I do need another good ST for sure.
Another win in league against the 3rd, we played at home and 3:2 win. Annoying thing is the timing we conceded goals, especially the second one. I played on IPhone, the assistant manager says "Be careful, your defenders might fall in sleep ..." around the end of the game when we lead 3:1, then immediately they scored a goal! So this tells us that the match results might have been pre-decided. If this is true, lord Nordeus really makes this game very realistic, isn't it LOL?
Now we advance to the CL knock out stage and back to the top of the league table. But we are not secure in league since the second is strong and he beat me at my arena 4:3. Tonight, I will see if I can get 1 good ST who can score goals and 1 good DL to secure my left back wing, which is vulnerable when I play against teams with strong MR/DMR; I learned this lesson from today's league game and the one I lost to the second ranking team who used to be the leader before today. Let us see if we can get what we want, fingers crossed!
OK. I played one game today in league using 451V and I won. I used the same formation 451V and same players.
One winger scored a goal, another one assisted one and the ST made it, so three attackers all contributed something important. in terms of the rating, the winger assisted one goal was 8, other 2s are 7.
I will keep using this formation, not only because this is the best combination I can have at this point, but also because I do not have other options. I have a descent team, but the embarrassing thing is that I only have one good ST, which was trained to 7 star, one winger 7 star, another winger close to 7 star - this is my attacking group. other than this, I do not have other good combinations, as I tested others, they don't work well. I cannot simply change 451V to 4141flat because my wingers are AMC/AML/AMR, so this is another reason I have to stick with 451V.
If I can get a very good ST, then I might be able to try narrow diamond, because one of my best wingers is not that stable. Anyway, I am still testing my team, and the formation; and I realized that if you want to use 451V, the key is the front 3 guys, they must be good, very good, which is not always true; if I can have another better ST or winger, I will be more confident.
Palace teams report, Friday...
Palace Casuals had two draws today, the first was away, 1-1, in the Champions League Group stage, which confirmed that they would take no further part in the competition this season. Mario Dinamarca scored in the 1st minute and it was downhill from there on.

Desert Rats FC's Champions League match saw them come back to win their away match 3-2 to confirm their progression out of the Group stage in 2nd place in the Group table. Needing at least a draw to progress, they were 0-1 down for a long time in their match before a late flurry of goals by Vinnie Taylor, and Francisco Pelissier, and after a home equaliser for 2-2, Jose Carlos Matias gave them a the win. Their evening League match was a 2-1 home victory, Markus Hammes and Albert O'Toole scoring.
Palace Terriers were away in the League, and suffered their second League defeat of the season, 0-1. A day late, but Luis Fernando Peralta made his 50th appearance in a Terriers shirt in yesterday's match...

no, forget about this. I changed many times the flow of a game with my presence and tacticsQuote:

but ...sometimes the roll dice of the game is so strong that makes the presence of the manager useless.
if you have two good DL & DR to hold back and 2 good MC to hold the center it's not necessary. But must find a 3rd winger to make a rotation. I 've notice lately that with 4-5-1V it's difficult to find a good ST. The wingers taking all the glory lolQuote:

I agree with you about the 451V things. It is very difficult to get a ST who can be excellent! But sometimes if we are lucky, we can get very good one who can really do works or coordinate front lines along with wingers, but it is so tough to find someone like that. So the wingers must be good to carry the responsibilities; I do have a third winger but I barely use him unless I have to since every single match is crucial at this stage, and I do not have any luxury to rotate him into starting line-ups; but I might be able to do so if I can get a comfortable win in 1st leg CL match, then in the 2nd leg I can rotate some players.
Now I am struggling with is how should I set arrows on my DL and DR, this is what I have:
Attachment 54832
In terms of the your first response, do you agree or disagree that the result might be pre-determined? I do not want to believe this is true, but I remember this issue has been mentioned by tons of people here at this forum...
At mid-night last night, I woke up and found a multi-roles grand dad, who had good stats in the past but not good record in this season, which could be the reason for the seller to sell him. I believe he was originally a AMC/AMR with FK SA, then the owner assigned ST role to him.
I know this might NOT be a good choice for me but since I am really desperate to find a ST, this became the only choice as I stayed late last night but there was even no good ST at all! I can use this new guy in multi-positions, maybe this is his only value, who knows, will see ...
Attachment 54833
Of course not. But every season I have hmmm about one-two games for my teams, where it seems that everything I 'll do in the game (subs, orders, formation), it's impossible to win (playing vs weaker teams).Quote:
In terms of the your first response, do you agree or disagree that the result might be pre-determined?
The games are pre-determined without the presence of managers but some times (rare) because of the connection/synchronizing or maintenance, the server isn't recognizing it and make the calculations as the managers are absents.
With $4.85Bn in the kitty, Palace Casuals were eager to offload some in exchange for some better quality players - as the Level 26 transfer market is awash with 5* Norgens at the moment (see previous post), good players can be had for 1T or after a very protracted battle (2T/3T). This afternoon a couple of dual-role defence-strengtheners were purchased, one with a useful SA:

Teda won a league match 4:1 on road.
One winger scored one goal at 8 mins, and he was good during the whole match so he won the MOM. Another winger who performed very well yesterday did not perform well today. At the 38 min the DMC got his second yellow and was sent off, the opponent scored from a penalty; so we started playing with 10 men since 38 min.
Then I substituted a MC with a DMC, 451V became 412W1 with 10 men; due to the team quality difference, we still dominated the match but we just could not score anymore; at 73 min, I substituted the grandpa and wonder happened after that - 3 mins later, he scored 2:1! We lead again! then I put two wingers, including this grandpa in the AMC positions, at 78 min, one opponent player was sent off, we got a penalty, and we scored again, 3:1, so 10 men on both sides; at 82 min, grandpa scored again, 4:1, we won the match!
Although my second best winger won the MOM, I personally think that the grandpa should take this honor because he only played for about 17 min, and scored twice! And we do not even know if there are any aspects that he impacted the match. He is my hero today, but I will still use him in a conservative way, super-substitute is how I define his role; we will see how he will perform when we play against stronger teams.
Great victory against the 2nd of my league (who isn't second anymore :p )
Another tough league is going more easy than I expected. Let's see.

Palace teams report, Saturday...
Desert Rats FC took the honour this morning, and played an away League match. Chris Passmore (10 rating) and Albert O'Toole (10 rating, MoM) both scored hat-tricks, with Markus Hammes adding a single in a 7-0 win. Jose Carlos Matias and Lorcan Ivory were injured.

Palace Terriers played mid-afternoon and had a 2nd vs 3rd match at home. Braces each for Zdenek Krajca and Aaron Record, match score 4-0 and Terriers tighten their hold on 2nd. Downside was a double yellow for DMC Miguel Perez, he misses next match.
Attachment 54850
Palace Casuals played mid-evening and broke their winless drought with a 1-0 away win. Defender Sergey Fetisov got onto the end of a free-kick from Mario Dinamarca for the only goal of the match in the 59th minute. Dinamarca had missed a penalty in the first half, and Liam Cashman was on the wrong end of a brutal tackle which got the perpetrator an early bath and Cashman the prospect of 4 days medical treatment. New signing Rasmus Sadi got a cameo appearance in late on in the game and performed well.
Attachment 54851
With the earlier reported signings, a mini-clearout of lower quality players continues, the two departing this evening were:
Ben De Wree, DC, (age 26, 3*/139Q SA, 200 appearances-12 MoM-9 goals-0 assists), (see below for selling price).
David Zhelev, DC/DMC, (age 26, 4*/140, 102-3-9-0), $97.4M.
There must have been a real battle royale over Ben De Wree:

At the halfway stage of the season, injury stats are as follows:
Palace Casuals, 20 matches, 4 injuries, 14 days.
Palace Terriers, 18 matches, 4 injuries, 14 days.
Desert Rats FC, 24 matches, 7 injuries, 32 days.
LEVEL 17: 19-3-4 overall record; 68 Goals 19 GA.
Fixtures:
Cup (1st round) 3-5 loss, 3-1 win
Cup (2nd round) 2-1 win, 0-0 draw
Cup (3rd round) 0-0 draw, 4-0 win
Cup (round of 16) 2-1 win, 2-0 win.
After the 1st leg of the 2nd round, I purchased tokens to significantly upgrade my roster. Should have during 1st round of cup, as my opponent was an active manager. We jumped up 3-0 in the 1st leg, before the opponent pulled two back and my GK got injured @ the 58 minute, bringing my cup draw specialist (5* quality at level 5) into action. Not aware he was starting since I wasn't planning to manage my team until the league draw was announced, the cup draw specialist anchored a strong defensive effort in a 3-1 victory to see us thru to the 2nd round. Surprisingly its not the only high profile victory he's pulled off, winning the CL final (level 14) when I accidently started him.
CL: 1-1 draw, 4-1 win, 2-0 win, 0-1 loss, 4-0 win, 5-0 win. Won group.
League: Can't remember all scores but currently top the table by 5 points, with a GD of +28 (36-8)
Overall goals have been more difficult to come by than seasons past, but the defense has been outstanding. Only conceding 10 goals (12 clean sheets in 21 matches since upgrading my roster)

Half season:
Level 27 team
Performance in league is satisfactory. After starting with 1 loss and 1 draw, the team won all league matches except two weird losses:
(1) Loss to a a team which lost all league matches until defeating my team and then win 4 matches in a row.
(2) Loss to the current league leader today. During the match, after one of my MC was ejected at 53min, another MC was also ejected at 89min. Then my team conceded a goal, the matched ended, and the opponent took over the league leading position.
Attachment 54903
For CL, my team luckily grouped with low level teams. So there is nothing worth for review except it suffered a loss to a level 26 team.
Level 19 team
I am happy that this team is no longer weirdly inconsistent. It has some good or bad days but generally the performance is reasonable. I am happy that it can always defeated the much higher quality teams. These may be its weirdest performances.
Attachment 54904
In CL, the opponents at group stage are at same level as my team but are weak. In top 16 first match, my team is currently leading by 2-0 with 2 away goals.
Today Teda played two matches in 3 hours and we won both.
The first league match was nerve wrecking. We played on road and conceded a goal at 32 min and then I made some adjustments by changing 451V to 4222 Hexagon and started playing hard attacking. We then scored twice and brought a win back home. The best winger of mine scored the decisive goal and won the MOM, the ST got a 7 rating.
The next CL match started 3 hours later, I did not make major changes because I wanted to make something good in the first leg. The opponent is very weak so we won 4:0, and again on road. The best winger got a rating 10 and again he won the MOM in 3 hours.
What bothers me now is my second best winger who doesn't perform stably at all; his rating is always 7 and sometimes he got a 10! The ST is OK, in the live animation I can always see he draws back and makes one touch with other players and made assists for others to score, so this is what a single ST always does; although his rating is always waving between 7 and 8 as long as I can win I think I am OK. But I know he is not an ideal ST for 451V.

Palace teams report, Monday...
Desert Rats FC started off the days' play and were in action at home against the 3rd place team. All was well, striker Steve Haddou having put the Rats ahead in the 7th minute, until early in the second half, when the visitors scored two goals in quick succession. Despite all their efforts, the Rats couldn't break through again and they ended up 1-2 losers and in 3rd place in the table.
Palace Casuals were next up and were also playing at home, against 5th place. Right-winger Johan Shaqiri put the Casuals ahead in the 7th minute (spot the common theme) but there the match for the hosts ended, as the visitors scored two in each half to inflict a 1-4 defeat.
The Management has been perusing the Transfer market again, and put a couple of speculative bids on strikers. Got the first after a short fight, and the second insurance bid went through without competition...

Palace Terriers played late afternoon and were away at the League leaders. Zdenek Krajca and Alex Bailey scored in the 50th and 55th minutes, respectively, and Terriers took over the League top spot after a 2-0 win. When things are going well, don't relax, as Nordeus always puts a sting in the tail...

The Terriers player concerned hadn't even had a booking previously this season...
Teda won a league match today 1:0. The match was very close although we are much better than the opponent in terms of quality.
Again I stick with 451V, but all my attacking guys were so so today, they all got 7 ratings. The only goal came from one MC.
I am thinking that I might need to make decisions here after tonight. If I am lucky and can get s good ST, I might keep trying 451V otherwise I might need to change my main formation to narrow diamond. I used this formation a lot in my earlier seasons but then I used 442 for couple of seasons then changed to 451V.
Tonight I will see if I can get something good from the auction, who knows... The more you expect the more frustrated you feel...
Last couple days have produced 3 wins and 1 loss.
CL: Won 2-0 away, using 4-5-1V against opponents 2w-1-4-1-2. Not really a surprise, just a workmanlike result against a team w/o a DC.
League: Lost 1-2 to 10th which reduced our advantage to 2 points atop the table.
League: Todays league match was a rematch against Saleh FC, whom beat us 1-0 on opening day. This game saw a reversal of fortunes as the boys thoroughly dominated to the tune of 8-1, dropping Saleh FC to 5th on goal differential. Definitely didn't expect to see a 8 spot, as the boys previous season high was 5 (twice in league, once in CL) and Saleh began the day in CL spot, was in Round of 16 and only had conceded 16 goals through 13 league fixtures.
Cup: Was back to the usual, low scoring defensive struggle as the boys picked up a 2-1 home victory. Looked to be going for an easy win with 11th and 29th minute goals, but the opposition defense dug-in, then pulled back an all-important away goal in the 84th minute. Formations were 3-5-2V for me and 4-3n-3 for him.
