Palace teams report, Day 13 - Friday...
Warning: Movie reference within...
Palace Terriers had an appointment at high noon for their League match of the day, away at a team battling for promotion position. Zdenek Krajca opened the scoring in the 9th minute, and Ben Atkins increased the lead after 25 minutes. In the second half, Krajca added his second of the game, the match ending in a 3-0 win for the Terriers.
Some League stats:

The final round of Champions League Group matches saw Terriers at home, and they recorded a 2-1 win to confirm their place at the top of the Group. The Krajca and Atkins show continued in this match, the former supplying a cross and the latter heading it into the net in the 29th minute. The visitors equalised early in the second half, but Krajca earned his fourth MoM in a row when he provided another cross, this time for Mario Dinamarca to shoot past the 'keeper.

Put the League leaders with their 100% home record and the team with the joint second worst away record in the League together and the result is a foregone conclusion - not quite. Palace Casuals travelled to the aforesaid League leaders and dominated for three-quarters of the match, scoring in the 31st minute through Philip Deery. Once the home side had equalised in the 66th minute, however, it was only a matter of time before they asserted their position, and with 15 minutes to go, they scored another to lead for the first time. Despite a late recovery by the Casuals the final score was a 1-2 defeat.
I am starting to get really anoyed with this stats:

Awfull perfomance in the league. We lost 3-0 away from home and dropped to the 6th position again. On the other way, we finished the Champions League group with a 5-1 win. Let's see who we get in the next round. My AMR is the player of the season so far, with 14 goals and 16 assists in 24 games.

Palace Casuals active in the transfer market...
Casuals received a 1T/$110M negotiation offer for 4*/144Q striker Liam Cashman last night, and the Management decided to let it lie for 24 hours. This morning while perusing the transfer market, this young MC was spotted, and after the initial round bidders had declined to bid further, duly purchased for 2T/$102M

Having struggled at times with only three MCs this season, Saez will be very useful. On the other hand, 4 STs is a bit of overkill, so the Management decided to try and get some extra finance out of the negotiation and upped the selling price to 2T/$116M. Within 5 minutes, Cashman (club record: 72 matches, 5 MoM, 27 goals, 6 assists) was on his way...
Won league match 7-0
Lost league match 1-0 at away.
Hi everyone. I posted a topic in formation and tactics but got no response. Anybody ever come up against this? He has a better side being a division higher and i have my doubts.

3-3 road draw in the champions league, with us getting the equalizer in the 90th minute. Between this season and last season's CL, the boys have really struggled on the road during the KO rounds. Hopefully the trend of playing well at home continues, but the road woes are a little frustrating.
Goals from the DR, MC and AMC today.
Well got this great nego. offer, wich I am seriously considering

Out of Cup (2-2 home, 2-1 away). I've to give Atlético Kolkata credit, since this was the first season in 3 attempts that they won a cup tie(albiet AET). Then they came so far, I'm a happy man. Expected them to win though.

In real I'm happy too as Atlético de Kolkata won 4-1 away at Mumbai City FC. Ian Hume scored a hattrick.

Half Season Review
Usually my teams gradually improve in second half seasons. But in this season they have already well played in first half season. Now I just hope they will maintain this.
Level 20 Team - Beauty
Up to now, only new 7 players joined the team in this season. The relative team quality is slightly lower comparing with previous seasons. But the team is benefited with better understandings on its players.
Top 3 scorers are the 3 players with lowest qualities in the team. 2 of them are still 4 star and another just reached 5 star. I always want to use this as example to convince other managers that high quality teams are not necessarily better teams.
This team is still in CL playoff. Hope it can keep good performance in both league and CL.

Level 28 Team - NT Bulldog
At usual, about half of the players are upgraded in first half of the season. But upgrade progress is fast in this season.
The team has already been eliminated in cup and CL. So all 22 players are available for league matches, and the best performing players can start for remaining league matches. So I believe this team has decent chance to compete for league champion in this season.

Palace teams report for Saturday (late due to a family function...)
Palace Casuals played a Cup 2nd Leg match away at the team currently 2nd in the League. Having won 2-0 at home the Casuals expected a tough game as the hosts sought the win on aggregate, but a superb defensive display kept them at bay, with counter-attacking being the order of the day when going forward. Three minutes before the break left-wing and shadow striker combined for the first goal, Jorge Contera crossing from the left wing for Martin Kozak to head home. The home side equalised four minutes before the hour mark, but it took Casuals only five minutes to go ahead again, Contera again providing a left-wing cross, this time it was right-back Joao Azevedo steaming into the box for the header. Final score 2-1 to the Casuals, through 4-1 on aggregate.
Palace Terriers had an afternoon off in their Cup 2nd Leg as they wandered lonely through the match, eventually losing 0-1 to an 83rd minute goal from the home side, but they progressed 3-2 on aggregate.
Palace Terriers' evening League match saw some starting squad changes made by the Management to shake them out of the malaise that afflicted them in the earlier Cup match, but from the first half performance, he was wondering whether if it was worth it. Goalkeeper Chris Lux suffered a concussion in the 27th minute and Rob Johnston substituted, going immediately into action with a double save from a long-range shot and the corner which followed. Four minutes into the second half, the visitors took the lead, and that had more effect in shaking some sense into the team. In the 63rd minute, striker Waldemar Sanchez chanced his arm from 30 yards out and the 'keeper could only look on and admire as it flew past him into the net, and six minutes later, Julien van der Plas repeated the feat to put the Terriers ahead for the first time. With seven minutes to go, Sanchez had another crack from long-range and this one took a deflection but still ended up in the net, and Terriers recorded a 3-1 win.
Palace Casuals obviously left their blood, sweat and endeavour on the pitch of their Cup opponents as their League match for the day saw them tamely surrender their unbeaten home record against a lower opponent. The visitors seemed to have the freedom of the park as they went two up in the first 35 minutes, before one of their strikers saw red for two yellow-card offences, the second of which left DMC Kiril Rusev writhing in agony and having to be substituted. A couple more substitutions after the break were the Management's response to the situation and the home side began to make more headway. It wasn't until the 87th minute that they crafted a goal, left-winger Juan Manuel Ramirez blasting home from just outside the box, but it was too little, too late...
Palace Terriers report, Sunday interim...
Palace Terriers played an away 1st Leg in the Champions League 'Top-16' round and won a defensive match 2-0. Ben Smith put the visitors ahead in the 38th minute, heading home a cross from Julien van der Plas, and Rui Pinhal curved a free-kick round the wall just before the hour for the second goal.
After the match, the Management noticed a few central midfielders in the transfer market and managed to secure this one for 7T/$4.09M:

Palace teams report, Day 15 Sunday final...
Palace Casuals continued their dismal form in the League, their latest away match ending in a 1-2 defeat. Left-back Mohamed Monney finishing off a move started by striker Philip Deery the only high point in a very disappointing match from Casuals point of view.
Palace Terriers showed a completely different performance, dominating their home game from start to finish against the basement team in the League. Zdenek Krajca (2), a debut goal from Florian Nicolaas, Rui Pinhal and Stanislav Dolgoborodov scored in a 5-1 win that means that Terriers have finished the first half of the season with 13/13 wins in the League.

Palace teams report, Day 16 Monday, Cup extra...
Palace Casuals played a home 1st Leg against a Level 27 team which fielded eleven Scout/World Class players and predictably lost 1-3, Philip Deery scoring a fabulous solo goal in the 71st minute when the side were already 0-3 down. Martin Kozak was injured during the game, and is receiving the best efforts of the medical centre in a bid to be fit for this evenings League match...

Palace Terriers Cup 1st Leg at home was a bit more successful, Eko Sinegal and Zdenek Krajca scoring in a 2-0 win, in which goalkeeper Rob Johnston excelled between the sticks, producing three saves from long range shots which kept the opposition goal-less.
