With Regards to team captains

Hi Matt,
Thank you for your interest in the game mechanics and for contacting us!
Just like in real life, making a certain player a captain won't make him stronger or better, and it will not change any stats of the players in the team. However, it wouldn't be a club manager if you weren't able to choose your own captain.
We advise you to pick the strongest or your favorite player for that position. We are sure the player would wear that title with pride :)

So officially no effect from the Captain.

I always choose the oldest player! ;)

Many experienced manager here suggest otherwise.:)

I doubt a person at the support desk could know anything about the game, since only the original game designer and code writer know exactly how it worked.


I can easily destroy my team form just by choosing the wrong captain, and I think many other experienced player who know how to tank have the same ability.

Yeah choosing an offensive mentality with a CB captain and a defensive mentality with a striker have had adverse effects on my form in the past.

I think that dev's were asked about and they said that captain is just something visual...

I can understand that if we see how many things affect to a game result;

But, as phantoms exist,.... I too have to say, that have the impression that selecting one man or another, there's an effect... maybe is just an illusion, coz I focus in this factor,,,, or I don't know...

In my case I select the older player or, the player that was playing more seasons in the club... 3rd option is select one with best quality and excellent contirbution level.

Yeah it's not something quantitative but it could be one of 100 factors influencing a match's result. We've discussed this before at length lol

many things are illusions
I also have one, when I change the name of a player I have, to a football legend, he is more visible to me
or it's my impression because I can watch him better in the game than when he had a strange Libyan name :p

it means like even if a game developer admits that captainship it's for the fun of the game and you still believe that it's critical for team performance

Yea I know, that is old news still ;)

It's not a matter of believing, the influence of captain choice has soild evidence and could be proven scientifically, and indeed being proven by many managers who dared to try.

Since nord was not the people who originally developed the game I believe they do not understand the core game mechanics. Now this is a speculation.

The last one, #9 is now, from the middle of the season
It's a team from taken over, lv2, with players norgens, veterans and low q for dropping the quality (for the cup).
So far, has 27W-1D-1L. From today, I removed four players I had in Captains position.
I 'm sending you (pm) my fb address so we can be fb and watch my team closely.
There are also about 5 active members of the forum who are also fb friends (now with the cross of the servers in support), so also they can see my team and the results.
So far, the team is going great, with good chances for the treble.
If you study my team (as a fb friend) and you want me to use some other player (the worst ?) in captains position, I 'm waiting.

I try to pick a player with a bit of age and someone who is an MC or higher like AMC or ST.
