Hi Matt,
Thank you for your interest in the game mechanics and for contacting us!
Just like in real life, making a certain player a captain won't make him stronger or better, and it will not change any stats of the players in the team. However, it wouldn't be a club manager if you weren't able to choose your own captain.
We advise you to pick the strongest or your favorite player for that position. We are sure the player would wear that title with pride

Many experienced manager here suggest otherwise.

I doubt a person at the support desk could know anything about the game, since only the original game designer and code writer know exactly how it worked.


I can easily destroy my team form just by choosing the wrong captain, and I think many other experienced player who know how to tank have the same ability.

Yeah choosing an offensive mentality with a CB captain and a defensive mentality with a striker have had adverse effects on my form in the past.

I think that dev's were asked about and they said that captain is just something visual...

I can understand that if we see how many things affect to a game result;

But, as phantoms exist,.... I too have to say, that have the impression that selecting one man or another, there's an effect... maybe is just an illusion, coz I focus in this factor,,,, or I don't know...

In my case I select the older player or, the player that was playing more seasons in the club... 3rd option is select one with best quality and excellent contirbution level.

Yeah it's not something quantitative but it could be one of 100 factors influencing a match's result. We've discussed this before at length lol

I also have one, when I change the name of a player I have, to a football legend, he is more visible to me

WHAT do you mean by still believe in Santa?

it means like even if a game developer admits that captainship it's for the fun of the game and you still believe that it's critical for team performance
