    4-3-2-1 - Striker not scoring.

    Hi all,

I've been reading a lot of older posts about strikers, who don't score. My top scorer for 3 seasons has been my right winger.

He's played 20 games and has 19 goals and 8 assists.
My left winger has 17 goals and 6 assists.

I'm top of the league, and the performance of my team is good. But the striking position is concerning me.

My striker has 17 games with only 5 goals and 4 assists.

All players are scout level, but my striker is the highest. All his attacking and mental skills are one level above scout except crossing and aggression.

I'm wondering, do I have a problem? Is this just something that my formation does playing as a lone striker? Last year my striker was different, but he didn't score quite as few, though again not close to my right sided winger. He is playing ok, but I can't see stats for chances missed anywhere.

I don't always play down the flanks, it depends very much on my oppositions formation.

Anyone who has been playing a long time have any input on this?

    Cheers.

well...i am also on the top of the league... 7pt clear.... i have 34 goal from 9 games....but....i only has my AMR score 6....which he is the 3rd place on the whole league scorer LOL

and my ST not scoring for a long time already...no matter who i play in ST (i have two ST...and 4 others can play in ST also) but still no matter who play in ST...the most he gives is ....assist not scoring LOL.... and if you have two ST....you can play him in AML or AMR...and you will see his rating increase ....(my ST already get below 7...... and when i move him to AMR (he is only play in ST...not other position he can play) ...his rating mostly increase to 7.5 or above =.=

I think you have the answer to your own question as you are top of the league. I play mostly 4-5-1V and my stiker is the 5-6th top scorer in my team. Who cares as long as we win ?

If you're playing 4-5-1V, as I am, you'll find the AML/AMR will score most of the goals and the ST will chip in every now and again. Just think of the striker as the one the defence will concentrate on, allowing the wingers to sneak in and put the ball away...

Its rare to see a striker playing in a lone formation get all the goals unless the wingers have low shooting finishing and high passing crossing. Only one that i had was about a year ago and he was overtrained on physical mental and attack with very low defensive quality. Be wary of putting up arrows on single strikers if they have defenders with much higher positioning than your player.

One good answer to this question is: if a team is instructed to play through the flanks, then it is likely that the players on the flanks will be more active. That is a possible reason why wingers score more goals than strikers in wing formations like 4-5-1(V).

But then, we expect the wingers to cross it in. But again AMs shoot more often than pass it.
