Could anyone tell me how possession affects the game?? And how possession is calculated

Known factors which affect b.p.
- Playing home, +5% if you have an almost full stadium
- 8% from the presence of the managers
- +2% from every friend/supporter who watching the game - the limit is (plus) five supporters 5X2%=10%
There are penalties if playing illegal formation : no players in one line (def/mid/att), no players in the wings
players out of position (switching GK wit ST gives 20-80)

Factors that we don't know if and how affect the b.p.
- The quality of the players > yes, but don't know how much
- morale and condition
- The most "proper" formation and orders
- maybe bonus

Ball possession has a minor effect in the progress of the game as many other things that affect a little but some times this little is enough to give you the victory.

So possession isn't really an important indicator of winning the match ???
And what makes more attacks at the opponent target??
Which formation would win: one with a lot of midfielders or with more attackers if both had the same quality??

it's not (only) the formation.
it's a combination of many things.

Important things
- High quality of players, in a good form, with a good "chemistry"
- Presence (and right coaching) of the manager
- Luck/roll dice

Minor things
- Formation
- Individual orders
- arrows
- b.p.
- supporters
- victory bonus
- training bonus
- special abilities
- morale
- condition

It means you get more chances, it doesn't mean they go in. Another thing I've noticed is that it can actually harm your team, I play much better when I don't watch the games a lot of the time - I think giving up the position is giving my players counter attacking chances or something.
