Why did i lose my game

maybe this is a stupid question, but could anyone explain why I didn't go to the next round.
We both have a win and a loss and both scored 3 goals..

if the aggregate score is a draw, then goals scored when playing away from home is the tie break. You didnt score at his stadium, he scored 1 at your place, so he goes through.
