3-1-4-1-1 Counter Attacks ???

i start playing this formation (3-1-4-1-1)
with mix and short passes also normal mentality and zonal marking
and i have 3 questions for the more experience players...

1. To play Counter Attacks and why ?? (i use short pass)
2. how to set my defence (DC-DC-DC or DR-DC-DL)
3. How and were to set my arrows to the players ???

and am apologise for been so annoying...

but the point is that the users who willing to help me, they always told me do this and this....
and no one explain me why

why this instead of that
which are the advantages and which are the disantvantages ?//
