I know... I dislike L1 for these reasons just the lack of income and you won't make anything from friendlies either, This is why I think L1 and L2 are difficult levels for managers out there, especially managers who don't buy any tokens.

I worked out the total income for the newbie cup if I win it is just over 500K, but by the time weve got there the season will be over and possibly moving onto L2 by then.
