Buy a new 18 year Day 1 next season, call him costa jr. problem solved.
I also had a legend like him and if I remember well, that was the period I got the message for earning one more year.
If you didn't get it, I think it's over.
Get rid of the other player,maybe you'll have the surprise and he will get the extra year contract instead of Costa :p

If he retires... without a single one-years contract... it's really annyoing. He has good quality, is a legend, earns a lot of money,... and that's it? 33 y.o.? that's kind of amazing BS.
I know... he will retire... maybe if he is dead. :p I also have a punsh of good player (nearly every weekend, I loan my top offensive player and my team still wins), BUT he was/is the only reason to keep playing this kind of ****, what Nordeus calls a football-manager-game.
If Nordeus take Costa that early, it's another reason to quit, they proof one more, it's all about money - I should spend money to get another player like him.
Now we know, if the AM said someone retires, it doesn't mean, it's over:

Sometimes... it makes me wonder, what kind of BS this game is.
A friend of me send me this pics... he could sign a 33 y.o. player on his own. And he will stay another 3 year? A 3% player? and my 152% Costa retires??

(I'm sure... next season, he will say, he retires, like Costa -> signed at 32 three more years, at 33, we know, AM told, he will retire).
