Renew a player's contract at the beginning of season

Based on your experience, does renewing the contract early at the begin of the third season improve his performance OR keeping him in an unknown situation and " psychologically unstable till the end of the season lower his performance ?

the only reason to sign an ending contract in the beginning of the season, is only if he is a young expensive fast trainer and you intend to power train him a lot, lets say 5* > 7/8* (so also increasing his value).
This is only for low-mid levels cause in higher there is no much difference in values.
