Where have my youth players gone?

Been patiently waiting for my academy to produce players and today should have been the day, however, all I've got is the message telling me two players will be available in 24 days, but I've received no youth players

Did you upgrade your youth academy during this period? Because it resets the timer when you make an upgrade

nope, I upgraded it today after I didn't receive any players and the counter had reset
