So from reading in forum most people recommend training only white skills and that’s what I have been doing lately but had a question.
DC players their skill “speed” is gray, so my players are low on that skill.
But if I want to play offside trap, my knowledge is that my defenders should be faster than my opponent attackers so why is “speed” a gray skill?
Anyone can share some more insight on this?

Nah, he is just saying that it doesn't matter which white skills you train or which grey you don't... There is no real life logic like speed is important or shooting is important for this and that player. If it's a white skill it's important, period.Quote:

Aha, it looks like this. There is no noticeable correlation between high skill(s) and player's performance. Maybe only the average of key skills for this position matters, who knows. So maybe there is a real, hidden, current quality of a player -- the average of his current position's key skills. And maybe it's something else, like, grey skills matter too, but with penalty multiplier.Quote:

The game mechanics seems to be very simple with huge random factor in play. TE is more like "strategy + slot machine" than "strategy + tactics". And by "strategy" I mean "farm greens and feed your players", nothing more.
But if you keep playing him as DC only, why do you think it makes Speed useful? Set of key skills is determined by player's position only, so it is logical to assume that it doesn't matter if a player has a skill white or gray, if this skill is not a key skill for this position. In other words, Speed is not important for DC; therefore it doesn't matter how high player's Speed is, if he plays on DC position. Don't you think so?Quote:

And it is never nice to train as many skills as possible. If there are more and less useful skills, it is a waste to train less useful for the cost of more useful.
If your happy to have players with seriously warped stats after a few seasons, that’s up to you, but I like my players to have high, balanced stats. It makes for ‘total football’ in essence when your players have as many high attributes as they are capable of.
And for what it’s worth, iv read many of your posts and learned a lot but on this subject, I just think it is beneficial, to use your reaources wisely and train an additional position while a player is 18, in order to give him is overall stats some longevity as you have him for 5 or 6 seasons.
It is either high or balanced, not both at the same time. Highly-specialized players versus all-arounders. And since a player can't play two positions at the same time, it is better to train him to do one job really good.Quote:

@Seeker85. Something that may change your mind on having balanced stats.
Have a look at the current associations number 1. Sparta XXX Alliance. Have a look at individual players within the teams. White skills maxed out. Grey skills at 1%.
They seem to be proving that an imbalance to player skills is very, very important.
Ok. How they get those skills to those players is another matter, but they are where they are with the teams and players they have. And to me that says max out the White skills, and the fewer white skills a player has, the easier and quicker it is to train him to the 340% max.
Just a thought.

What happens when the live animation shows an offside call according to the text commentary is that the opponents defender 'used his strength to claim the ball and stopped the attack' or something similar.
It's still unclear what offside trap does exactly, but however it either improves or inhibits the defensive efforts of your team. So if your defense is doing well with it then continue and vice versa. But don't believe what the live animation says
The opposite happened when I played a mutant team like this in my league last season. I have a good balanced squad, all with SA’s and we just don’t get thrashed. Won plenty though.Quote:

so, i believe that only key skill in specific position will be counted and those are the white skills will determine your match result in addition with hidden parameters or random factors generted by the game engine itself
my guess until now:
white skill - 70%
tactic - 15%
hidden parameter - 10%
random factor - 5%
If a drill contains both white and grey skills, then grey skills will be penalize, and white skills will get a bonus. Quality gain stays the same, but you actually need less training sessions to train only white skills from this drill.Quote:

interesting thread indeed. so most veterans agree that unbalanced players (specialists) are better?
would like to hear your opinion about balance in whole team, regarding low levels with limited resources. would you rather go for 100% from GK to ST or have most team on 80% with 3 key positions at 120% ?

I am clearly a fan of balanced and as high as possible whites. Firstly, just for a nice visual, secondly, noone has an idea which white skills should be more important than other skills and for what reason it was implemented. So it would be a guessing roulette, with balanced I go sure nothing important in missed.
I’d be nterested to hear more, as iv put a lot of effort into my team, all 18-24, with a trained SA and who finish the season around 130% currently. I have been buying 2-4 18yr olds, training an SA and making sure they have, or training up and extra position to give them more key attributes. Should I just train an SA and be very meticulous about how and with what schedules I train each player? How does this affect things like condition bonus, if it isn’t productive to train 8 players at once, or can 8 players be trained at once using ‘clean schedules’ for all 8 players?
Finally, I had been getting to the point where my players (that had joined at 18 and trained hard and played as first team era, till they were about 24/25) were warping in skills and having extreme polarities, so I sold them. Would it be best to keep players with one position and just use training schedules that improve their key attributes?
Also, my association can’t seem to get up and stay in Gold one, so I’m thinking we need to be informed and playing to the next level to get promoted.

seeker, read those guides!? in short, you should get 8 cheep 27-30 yo players to do bonus training. or use 0 token player from academy. to them you assign all NP and SA you want.
I get the best players I can get for each position and play to the strengths of the team. Don't be depreciative of the 4* player you have to include in the squad, I've lost count of the number of times that they've been the MoM in my time playing TE...
During my early days of this game when I had less resources I also had the best success. My team was full of 4 star and I even kept some 3 star players as reserves. A good player is good no matter what, but one thing I noticed with my club legend Son is that when I got a new player in his position and power trained him he kinda lost his fire. He still did score and made a great sub, but maybe the game chose the new guy as the default goal scorer now.Quote:
