What determines the duration of the auction of a player?

Sometimes is 2 hours other times 6.
I did the mistake to sell a player right now......6 hours.....chance are that I will not get good money

Its usually not much more than 2 hours, except when daily maintenance is due, in which case the duration will be extended to 5 or 6 hours, to cover the time that the game serves are off-line.-

But I've put him on the transfer market 4 hours before the maintenance.........

The maintenance will not stop the game anymore (see the message from Nordeus on the main page) so therefore this should not affect the time of the auction (normally not more than 2.5h)

Anyway if I remember correctly I've also sold player in the morning and sometime the duration of the auction was 6 hours.....
