Losing a star don't mean that they lose skills. A 18 year old player will advance faster, so on the long term he will be better than a 29 yo player who has 1 more star (if you want to compare stars of course)

wrong Free player from youth academy can be fast trainer too i have a 0 token striker he a fast trainer 1:4.9 (1 % of energy gain 4.9% of a skill pt)
