Yes. Train young only but also check if they are fast trainers by refering to the fast trainer guide.
Basically if the 5 star 18 year old isn't in or more than the range quoted for price. Don't waste too many greens on him.

Also focus training more on attack. Usually a strong attack will be sufficient to get the wins. I am having one of those seasons where defense matters but it is not common.
