My team seems to have issues with changing my formations and tactics in every match, seems as they not only perform below their capabilities, but they also lose morale at a higher rate, this is my 3 season here and I have 3 formations that I know for a fact my boys perform well, so I'm gonna stick to them and make my opponents adjust to my team's strength :-)
Any and all comments with your on hand experiences regarding tactics is very welcome!
My player still lost morale, despite winning the matches...
Good for you, I have recently stooped doing this too and have been on a run of 5-1-0 including 4 clean sheets!
I've never even bothered changing my tactics to match my opponent and I got my first loss of the season just yesterday so its been going pretty well for me.
Only the "unsure" one uses counterformations .... :rolleyes:

Yes me too.. now I'm stop changing formation, use my best formation and 7 match in row in league not conceded any goal.. :o
Yup i reckon most on here have teams that are the best in there leagues and champs league, let your opponent counter you! I only counter if im facing a team alot better Q than myself. For me the best form of defense is attack, 3-4-3 FTW :)

Sure, making the other manager change formation to counter yours sounds fine and if he does and you lose? Well then you slap yourself for not managing your team and take the loss.
I want the other manager to be confident in his formation, then I counter his and win with a better formation.
Think about it: the other team is strongest with 4-4-2 classic. You are strongest with 4-4-2 as well. Do you risk a 0-0 draw or a close game where you might lose or do you exploit the weakness of the 4-4-2 and go 4-5-1V or 4-1-2-1-2 n.diamond? both of those formations have a much better chance at beating 4-4-2.
I will always take my chances with countering and give my team a better chance at winning.
Go ahead and sit on your favourite formation for the whole season....just hope you dont meet my team, because I will be happy to change my formation to exploit the weakness of your formation....:p
Yeh but chnging your formation to exploit the other teams weakness either leaves you with a weak formation too or not enough up top to do any damage. Im all for countering, only when i feel i need to though. Also i played a team with 1 less quality than me yesterday, he matched my formation and i hammered him 5 nil!Quote:

I have 2 basic formations that I use most, it's a bit of a custom 3-1-4-2 using a DMC behind the mid, - When I go ahead I may switch that DMC to an AMC and push more, if I go further ahead and want to give my subs a run I might tweak a little more here and there. I'm on a 7 win streak using this at least. Orders set to attacking, mixed, normal tackling, counter attacks on, offside trap off.

Think counter attacks are pretty pointless when your playing attacking mentality, they work best when your playing defensive, letting your opponent come onto you and then hitting them on the break :)Quote:

I have counter set from end of last season when I was losing, just never changed it and, well ... 7/7, it's working for me. I wouldn't say it was pointless, just because you're set to attacking, doesn't mean you are always on it - you're on the back foot when other team is on the attack, grab it back and counter - which can mean hoofing it up field when their players are all in your half to grab a sneaky counter goal ;)Quote:

PLaying the team in 2nd today, expecting an upset, as he's beaten me in a friendly before - I have beaten him twice though, last time 5-1! So we shall see when it actually counts.
I also have a tough cup match later. I'm 6-3 up from first match, my opponent has a tougher team, all scouted players it seems, for a level 2 they are all into orange stars. I'd say he is sick after the first match so will be going hard at it. By tomorrow I'll have a lot of red crosses I imagine :/
Yeah, sorry to confuse, looks like you are the same as me DL DC DR plus DMC and all 3 def have aerial & defensive wall SA but I play attacking without counter attacks but if it works like you say maybe I should change.

You talking about hard tackling? I changed to hard tackling for a couple of harder cup games and never noticed that i was being booked more, nor did i cause any injuries. I did notice that i had more possession, so i left it at hard tackling and still not getting alot of cards or causing injuries, just more possession.Quote:

OK, coz I have a hard match myself team behind me so a win would give me some breathing space but one last question on you DMC do you have red or blue arrows?
Just won that match Vs 2nd place, 5-2. I almost forgot it was at 12:30, normally a little later. When I joined it was 3-2 just before HT. he was watching and making changes. I made that switch at ht from DMC to AMC and scored almost immediately. Got a penalty late in the,game. I guess that was his hard tackling?
On the DMC I usually leave him with no arrows - but might switch to blue, if I'm being pressed, and red obviously then if I'm in comfortable possession at home. But mostly no arrows.
Just brought in a new ST for cup games, sold my 3rd on, as he just wasn't cutting it - this guy is only 20 and his stats were about as good, I'll improve on him in no time. And a DR also for cover.

Glad not changing things is working for you. changing things is working for me. I have trophies too and I have never sat on a specific formation. I only lose 2 games a season in league at worst and have won CL every year except 1st when I was out of it when I joined. So there is something to be said for countering, whether the known ones work or not.
I've got the feeling that formations doesnt really matter, as long as its legal. But I guess my feeling is wrong^^

Well, I'm out of Cup, lost 1-0 in 1st minute he scored, I dominated every stat but the one that matters, 61% possession, 24-4 shots, 14-2 on target, his 6* keeper got the MVP, my team played awesome vs a 5Q higher team, now I can concentrate on League (7-1-0 record) and might put some effort on CL since I'm 1 win from knock off stage :-)

Ha, well, tonight was a bit of a joke in my game. I was 6-3 up after last match ... he had to score 4 to beat me, right? It ended 4-1 to him because 2 of my players got injured, and he grabbed his last goal late in thee game, of course. 7-7, So he goes through on away goals ... what a fix, lol. Him being a token player swayed that one. Well done devs, get paid ;)
I know for fact if I'd been playing he would never have taken it. For starters auto-subs did NOT kick in! wtf is the point of it in that case? I would have replaced the players right away, obviously, and changed tactics up when behind. They could have rigged it a little less obvious. No way this guy deserved a 4-1 after I proper mauled him yesterday. His last goal was in the 87th min, and he seems to have changed formation 3 times, with each sub.

Countering is the only way to go, I was semi afk for a couple of games this season and just set myself up 4-2-2-2 hexagon and played against a lesser team that beat me, looked back at it and he had 442, counter to the hex.
Auto subs only work if you are logged out. I leave my laptop on and am always logged in, so I forget to logout sometimes and autosubs dont work. logout if you cant watch the game.Quote:
