How much do your captains pick matter?

How much does it affect your teams and certain players effectiveness in matches based on which player you select as captain? Has anyone noticed any subtleties at all they can point out? The only thing I've noticed is that when I pick my best player who's an MC I usually give up less goals. When I pick a striker for captain he seems to score more goals. But it just could be coincidence.

Any thoughts on this?

It's entirely cosmetic in my opinion. I have a vague recollection it's one of the few things Nordeus actually confirmed has no effect on the outcome of games... but I could be making that up.

It doesn't matter. i purposely put my lowest % player as penalty, freekick, corner & captain because the game recognize the best player to take em all compare to your choosing.

The best part is when u usually see this 1 guy take fk but somehow other player takes it u instantly know it's a goal and sometimes when this frequent setpiece taker have a bad day u just sub him out and the 2nd best player game recognize will probably do setpiece better than the 1st 1.

So when i put this lousy reserve player as captain, the game will automatically put the best candidate as captain on field. but luckily we have no idea who they're because it isn't available to see C in the pitch.

Oh if u guys wondering & asking "then why not just leave the setpiece, captain empty as is..?"
well if u do that, your team preparation will be lower and cant get superb preparation.
so i just put whichever player that isn't in matchday squad as the captain..

i remember other online football manager game like hattrick.org, freekick.org, xperteleven.com have quite high impact on selecting your captain for your team(which also almost accurate in real life)..but in top11 captain doesn't matter at all! wtf?

I notice lately, my goal even high in % is captain plays always not good.. losing games for me... so I try my star player my ST and I will see
Maybe things change in the game and it is not anymore cosmetic???
