End of season

So its my 1st season. Many threads i read say that at the end of each season you need to lower the average of your best 14 players.

So i thought i need to keep my best 11 players and buy 3 3* players to have 14 players and with them lower the average and of course sell the rest.

Is that a good strategy pls?
