Roles and white skills

If I set a DL/ML player in the ML role but close to the DL position like in the picture below, will the DL white skills become irrelevant since he is in the ML role or do they still have influence?

All the skills are relevant no matter where you put a player

I guess my question should've been if there's a difference between a defensive ML like in the picture or an attacking DL.
