why do players lose value at beginning of new season? surely if you get promoted and are playing at a higher level they should GAIN value not lose it.... seems daft to me

that should be a factor in players that are 30+ but not for players that are young. If in england a team were promoted from the championship to the premier league that teams star 20 year old striker wouldnt be suddenly less valuable,the exposure of a higher ranked league would increase value surely?
Just think though. A good striker in a lower league and scoring a lot of goals, would probably not be so good when moving up and playing against better quality defenders. That is why their star rating falls. But don't forget also, that the stars are only a visual rating. The players quality rating remains the same.

I agree completely, although Zaha was by far the best player on the pitch in playoff final today....
but look at Palace's striker Glenn Murray. scored 30 goals. valued at around 3million in January transfer window. now linked with 5 million move to Fulham. now today Crystal Palace have been promoted so by this logic should his value now drop and he is worth say 2.5 million?
