Post Table of Counter Formations 2.0 - Which formation to use?

    Hello,

as our great member "July Fourth" decided to edit the starting post of the old thread, I decided to continue the thread.

All given information on this thread is subject to change. New formations and counter formations will be added at some point. Please note that the given information in this thread is not always correct and that you can still lose against your opponent even though you are using a counter formation.

Credits to July Fourth for creating and maintaining the old thread.

    • "W" = Wide
    • "N" = Narrow
    • "V-Style", "Narrow Diamond", "Wide Diamond" etc. = How the formation looks on the field or a special name for the formation.

You can ask your questions about the formations in this thread. Feel free to post your successfull experiences and results against other formations in this thread. You can also suggest new formations and new counter formations.

I'm sorry if there are a few old formations missing, I got those formations from the most current Google Cache of the old thread.

I take it that the - (dash) means that the counter above applies or does it mean there is no counter.

Firstly great work and it looks very professional and easy to read (As opposed to many others i have seen). I know MANY people love viewing counter formations so for that reason it is a good thing however I can't help but think people are just chucking out counter formations for the hell of it?! - I play 4-4-1-1 and I beat in the CL final a team that was 49Q to my 45.5Q. He played 3-5-2. Now according to the table he should have countered my 4-4-1-1 with his 3-5-2? Yet I won 7-1? - what I would like to see is people (honestly) logging results to see if these counters even work? People should comment on how they get on using counter formations as it would help with CF research.

I dont need that table anymore..
That table doesnt make me thinking about how to set counter strategy, not to counter formation with different formation..

If you have a better team, 4-4-2, can be countered by 4-1-4-1.
You will get 1 bad result in every 7-8 matches.
