    4-5-1 V with attacking mentality

I've been scrolling through some formations, usually 4-2-2-2, 4-3-2-1 and 4-5-1 V depending on the other team.
I usually play with red arrows on my AML/AMR and my DL/DR with an attacking mentality, short passes and pressing the whole pitch, never used counter or offside traps.

Can counter attacks work with attacking mentality and the rest of my orders or should I change to maybe normal/defensive mentality, mixed passing and pressing own half if I wan't to try out counter attacks against a better team?

What's the pros and cons with short passes/mixed passes?

I'm really trying to learn but it's pretty hard with all these options on orders.

I would only play counter attacks with long passes and defensive mentality.

With short passes, you're supposed to have more possession but more time between plays, so less chances, I guess. I play long passes when playing a defensive, counter attacking game. When attacking, short passes for attacking through the middle, mixed passes for going down the flanks.
