I see alot of corners meaning you both attack on the wings. 4-5-1 V is the more offensive version of 4-1-4-1. You are winning and have the better team with home advantage, you don't need to go pound for pound against him. I can see you advance even winning the match with your tactic because after all attack is the best form of defence. 4-5-1 wing play is better with long ball and counter attack if you play short passing 4-1-5-1 will give you more possession. Its all up to you because on paper you have advantage in every aspect. Have you looked at his recent games? Does he always play the same formation? You don't think he will be more offensive in the return leg? If he keeps the same formation and you plan to use wing play don't need AMC. The DMC's low rating sometimes means he disappeared because you were avoiding him, he was not active because he wasn't needed but if his record shows he's in a run of bad forms then put 2 amc there. I would choose to target a better player with bad form over average player with high form.

I haven't helped anything but simply exchange with you my insights, please feel free to discuss our hobby. BTW, the cup game you had against Lvl 7 opponent and lost 2-0 using 4-5-1, I notice his AMC was red carded from the picture you uploaded, did he ended up playing 4-3-3? Either way, you should of avoided the wing trying to take on players 1 on 1 because even you do get a cross in, your lone ST wouldn't have a chance against his 2 superior DC. Should of drop an AMC in the hole to draw one of his DC out of position would be the better choice.

Formation should be decided after you set your mentality. You have already decided on normal mentality, wingplay, 4-5-1 V or 4-1-3(N)-2. You want my thoughts on how to set tactics for these 2 formations? Because I personally would protect the left side where his ML + Schurrle would make a good team IMO. Then I personally would counter attack based on stacked midfield and good defense. Trust me on this one about counter formation as it only give you certain advantage, it does not give you sure wins. For example my long time friend/enemy always in same league as me proved to me so with his good understanding of football and the game itself. My team is better, I have always had advantage against him as he plays 3-5-2 and I play Asymetric with 1 ST. My AMC is in rich form and always gave him problems. In the last game against me he opted for 3-1-4-2 instead so since my AMC can play AML/AMR as well i played 4-3-2-1 with 2 attacking wingers to exploit his lack of wing defense. I ended up with 1-1 draw because he understood my team better than me since my AMC don't play as well on the wings and my ST and AML is on a bad run of forms. I was whipping in crosses all game but my ST couldnt' win against his 3 DC. My only goal came from a set piece. Near the end of the game I put my AMR guy back to AMC position and put another guy in the AMC role to outnumber his DMC but it didn't pay off because it's still 3 vs 4. What I should of done is exchange possession with a sacrifice of an MC for more fire power with 2 ST and continue wing attack that will give me 4 against 3. So its not always attack the wings when he plays 3DC and in your case 2 on the wings with 1 ST would give you less clear chances on goal. Also 4-5-1 V is better played as long ball with counter. 4-1-3(N)-2 you might struggle linking your midfield with your 2 ST as he has a DMC. Try the Asymetric formation with an AMR target his weak DL and put an AMC on Khedira's right hand(note his right hand--next to your AML position) since Khedira is playing poorly lately.

    ST
    AMC AMR
    ML MC
    DMC
    DL DC DC DR

Put red arrows on AMR, pass to your right with mixed length. If you can't break through change to short passing, mixed focus. If you try this see how well your playmaker performs in tight space.

hmm i see then i better start with 4-4-2 classic 4-5-1V since it protect my back again his ml and i cant exploit his lack of flanks
and the orders would be normal, flanks, own half, mixed pass, normal tackle,no counter, no ot,zonal marking
is st would have a hard time against my back and is ml will face my super mr and DR
    what do you think ?
