Nah, bit it does add spiritual value. I gave my best defender #5 and he hasn't let me down since. :o
Don't think it makes any difference at all. In my season 4, I had a ML, who ended the season as my top scorer, and he had the #1 on his shirt. (My goalie that season wore #4).Quote:

No effect but it does make you angry when u buy a new striker & he gets the no 1 jersey maybe it is coz they want you to use a token to change it.

Myself, I try to make my squad as much like real life as possible (not neccessarily in number positions), but I only use each number, once a season. I use squad numbers 1 - 30. At the start, I have 22 shirts allocated, and 8 empty. If, for instance, the #10 then leaves, I don't use that number again until next season.
