Team Performance Affected By Certain Constructions

I have noticed this twice: my team performs strangely (poor performance - losses, draws, and unconvincing wins against much lower quality teams) when there is a construction going on. These constructions are those related to the stadium, for instance, stadium upgrade or grass upgrade. In the next match after the construction is over, my team performs as it should.

What kind of thing is this? I'm so disappointed and annoyed given that I have already invested a lot of money in that game by buying tokens to build the team and so on. If this continues, I will quit the game at the end of this season, given that I can't upgrade certain areas without any performance penalty . :(

Palace Terriers have the people in installing Sprinklers on the pitch at the moment - didn't stop them winning 4-0 in yesterday's League match. They're at home again in the Cup this evening, I'll keep an eye on their performance then. Perhaps it's just a coincidence.

This does not happen with some others as well; I have asked them. But, with my team, it went on for about 16 days. When the construction was over, the team started performing as it should (that is, relative to the overall quality, tactics used and so on). This might have been a coincidence, which is why I did not report it before, but there were doubts after I eliminated the other factors that could cause the decrease in performance. Then, when I started the sprinklers construction, the strange performance was back again. It is as if something is blocking my team from playing as it should. I became more sure that there is some relation. I have just rushed the construction using tokens so that this 'bad' period goes away as I have an important match in a few hours.

I know that this is strange and should not occur, but it has occurred twice already. I will confirm after my next few matches. If I notice the change, then definitely there is something wrong. And if it is the case, I'm not going to buy any more tokens. It seems that I have wasted my money on this game (375 tokens bought so far).

Also want to say that (I think I 've read all the posts of the forum :p) I didn't see anything about this from older ones.
The only similar subject was about when the grass lv is update, the new grass can cause injuries in games or training.
Also that if you're playing with opponent that has low quality facilities (and grass), that can cause an injury in your players.
From my experience, those are "urban legends". Even if it affects, it's just a usual +- 1% which I believe none can have a solid conclusion from observing.

Like I have said above, others do not seem to have that problem. Take into consideration that many of you are in different levels and are on different servers and have different databases. For my team, there is something strange going on. I will confirm this after the next matches as I have just rushed a construction; if the difference in performance is clear, then it is no more a coincidence. And if ever it is not related to constructions, still there is something wrong, like something just pick your team so that it no longer performs as it should for a certain period.

The thing is that the strange period lasted for almost 16 days, which was during the construction of the stadium. Then, another strange period came during the construction of the sprinklers. Before the stadium construction, the team was winning convincingly, during no, immediately after yes; just before starting the grass update yes, but during, no. It is as if my team had a block during those constructions. So, I will confirm it with what happens in the next few matches as I have rushed the current construction and completed it.

The other aspect of this equation is, since your team is a token buyer team you've got a target on your back. Other active managers will recognize your high quality team and this may increase the likelihood of them maxing their win bonus, player morale and/or player condition for this match, compared to other matches against lesser quality teams.

Building has no affect on performance. Upgrading grass does lower injuries, a bit. But other than that there is zero affect on your players from building/upgrading.
Just a coincidence.

Teams can go through periods where they are not performing well, but the facilities won't change that..

What is the duration and frequency of these so called unexplained bad periods?

My team is performing as it should again (I rushed the last construction before the match). So, I confirm that there is a good possibility that certain on going constructions have to do something with the strange performance.

Another possibility is floodlights. Many of the matches which my team played strangely was at night. So, it could be the floodlights (which I did not upgrade at that time).

Another possibility is something fishy from Nordeus as it seems that the team performance gets 'blocked'.

But coincidences... no.

It seems that it does not matter if you are at home or away. The effect is still there as long as their is a particular construction going on (so far, I have noticed it is with stadium and grass upgrades).

You've identified 2 things that seem to occur at the same time but I'd suggest they are not related.

Not all observed 'linked' things are actually linked.

A bit like lucky pants. ;)

I am not 100% sure that the constructions may be related to the poor performances, but the events constructions and bad period have happen twice at the same time and had the same duration, where the bad period stopped after the construction event was complete.
I would describe the negative effect like this: it is as if something has lowered the team's quality by a few stars or has 'blocked' the team; the team, rated 5 stars, has a hard time against teams rated 2-3 stars.
During these periods, I have tried to improve the squad, made changes tactically, but it seems that nothing gets the team going as it should.

Punishing teams for construction is a bad business model because its a deterrent to buying tokens. What incentives do I have to buy tokens, if my team play worse with construction active?

Assuming Nordeus has programmed active construction equals poor play, or introduced a bug that causes it; it raises a question which can be analytical solved. If Construction equals more losses/draws, wouldn't it apply to all teams across the server or game? What are the odds that your opponents aren't doing construction when you are?

For a comparative example, What are the records of the other top teams at your level (comparing at your level isolates the different server variable)? If there teams are doing good, dominating weaker leagues, making deep champions league runs then it will mean that construction isn't causing poor play.

I agree. There is good logic in what you have 'said'. But, there must some other fishy thing going on.

From the angle of programming, I think it is unlikely that stadium construction will affect team performance.

Is it possible that finance of your team become worse when major construction has been started? Then your team may slow down in upgrading squad and pay less win bonus to the players. Can these eventually affect your team performance?

It should not be the case if the finance is deep in the green section (not even borderline).

I know it's something I do if I come up against a token buyer. I pull out all the bells and whistles to get a win over them.
Another thing to note is that there is no 'right' way to dominate this game unless you literally spend thousands which is just stupid.
There are so many factors at play, and you can talk to some of the managers that have been playing for 2-3 years and they'll tell you they're still learning a lot of things. In other words, you will go through good and bad patches. Just sounds like an unlucky coincidence to me, unfortunately!

p.s If Nik is saying he hasn't come across it...then it probably isn't a thing :o

In my 14th season, I had troll results but only 1-2 per season but never had a continual under-performing period (from whole my team, not only 1,2,3 players) except the last week- 10 last days of 12th period. I explain this from many injuries, had 5 reserves only and (good) players starting playing bad after healing-injured-healing again.
This whole period so far I was keep building (without rushing) so I don't think construction is relative.
As for win bonus, I think it's just a +1 (or 2,3,4) % from my experience but also when I asked with this old post, and many experienced forum members had a different approach - answers.

That's my personal rule (because we didn't have so far a clear answer from game developer) :
If I ask (or read something) and there aren't clear/positive answers from many experienced forum members then there isn't an issue or else they would noticed that or it's a slight effect.
