Lost stars when not promoted

I lost my last game of last season after a player was sent off and missed 8th place by three points, the new season has started with all of my players having lost a star despite finishing ninth... why please?

If you, lost the 20%, is because you promoted.
Remember that you can promote in 9th, 10th or even 11th-12th place. Depending on the teams needed to complete the upper levels.

Remember too that the game don't discount a 20% of quality. Simply there's a Quality that works in slabs of 5 points, the 5* at level 1 is 20AvQ points, the 5* is displayed as 80%.
At level 2 the 5* is 25 points so if you keep the 20 points, these will be displayed as 60%, because each star is +5Quality points higher in the next level.
