Using dr in dmr position

When is a good opportunity to use the dl/dml or dr/dmr in the dm position.
I always use them in the dr to dl and never move them forward.

When you are playing against a team with no wingers, but fullbacks and you are playing 4 at the back, you can push one of your fullback up (You need 3 defenders to be legal formation) since you don't need them to defend much but play more offensively.

Also, if you play 3 DC, it would be better to play dml/r then playing 5 at the back.

So if you are playing against 4312 and you are playing 4 at the back, you might want to play one of your dl/r as dml/r since there is no one on his ML/AML.

I would even push up if they only have a dml/dmr on his wings.

No it's not. Arrows indicate mentality, not playing one position in front.

I thought the red arrows were to go forward up the pitch and the blue to stay back.
My thinking was that when playing a dr/dmr player, I could play him in the dr position and if I activated the red arrows, he would play a more advancing type of match.
Is this incorrect thinking?

Also on mentality and arrows, When playing Mentality in Normal with Red Arrows, is this the same as playing Mentality in Attacking without arrows. Please help correct my thinking.
Or does Mentality apply to the entire team and Arrows for selected players

If I play against a team with just fullbacks and I play a dl/dml, I would play him as dml with red arrow.
