    best 11

When I place my best 11 players on the pitch, I get this formation:

    - ST - ... - ST - -----ST-----ST-------
    ----------------------- --------AMC----------
    ML - MC - ... - MC- MR ML--MC------MC----MR
    --------- DMC---------- or -----------------------
    DL-------DM--------DR DL-------DM---------DR
    ---------GK------------ ---------GK------------

Are thes good formations against 4-4-2?
What tactics can I use to improve? (red/bleu arrows, or assignments)

    Thx for the reactions!

4 4 2 can be very hard to beat! I would try the first one (but then my team is more suited to it) I hope your D is strong.
Your best best is to put your very best guys out in a legal module and attend the game if you can. Attack through the middle, perhaps.

    Just my opinion!
Expressed above is my own opinion. Your results may vary.

    what's a legal module?

The 3 defenders are quiet better than the ST's of the opponent.
What is the way of thinking to determine if a team-formation is good or not.

    My idea (i'm a noob): 3D's + 1 DMC can cover the 2ST
On the midfield, I have 1 player extra, so a lot of ball possession.
And 2 ST in attack. (I think AMC + ST would be better, then his LB en RB are useless)

    Where is my thinking wrong?

Is he set up tp attack down the flanks. If so the his lb rb are not just for defense only. Wing backs can defend at assist in attack also.

Why not using always attacking backs then?
    Because they defense less?

Can someone explain what the thinking process is to set a formation right?
I put the 11 best players on the pitch in a legal place. And that's it.
If i'm better rated: attacking, and thats it.
I think I can do better, but for instance, I don't knwow how.

Is your first option to score goals or not to concede goals? Is there a difference?

I think there is a difference. I myself play defensively.

if you are better just put the same formation that he have and thats all. too I win 4-4-2 with my usual formation, the 4-3-3.
Is my opinion, I know I say this to all posts but is very important the control of the midfield.
Too I've seen that defenses of 3... are easy to win (for me) so, for sure (thats my opinion, here you can read 100 different than me) if you wanna win 4-4-2, you need 4 defenders, put 2 blue arrows to the 2 DC's and red to DR-DL to try to have more players attacking. that in defense, in midfield, you can win a 4-4-2 with 3, 4, or 5 MC's

For me a 1/3 is to have confidance in how you know of your team, if there is a player working well, in corner, in 1st half, or 2nd, you have to know your team and try to use this, because effective players, or not effective makes the difference. (in my case, if you wanna see my team, go to team showcase, FCBayern MÜnchen, is free entrance)
