Something wrong with the opponent formation?

I won against a better team, and both us watched the game and I managed to win albeit to my suprise. What is the problem with his formation?

wow, i played against someone using the exact same formation on the right
both are still legal formations since they have 1-2 players on both side. sure its not pretty to look at but yeah, i fear illegals the most in this game

I think he was outrun on middle. My orders were mentality defensive, passing mixed, hard tackling, pressing whole pitch.
