Would the 4-5-1 V or butterfly still be effective against this?

IMO the butterfly would, not to sure about the V, then again i don't really think the engine is so sophisticated, as long as you are within one square with zonal it should be OK.
Just attack his left flank, you could also move your AML over one square and the striker one to the right.
