I have a big away game in the league tonight. My opponent is one and half points better than me in average quality and one place above me in the standings. I lost 2:5 at home against him.
He is using this very offensive setup lately:
    DL-DC-DR
    DMC
    -MC-
    AML- AMC- AMR
    ST-ST
His two strikers have one on one ability, his AMC has a shadow striker ability and his AMR is a free kick specialist. Previous game he scored twice from free kicks against me.
I am thinking of using a defensive formation with defensive mentality, forcing counterattacks, playing long balls and using easy tackling.
I have a 4-5 star players all over the field, but I am not sure what formation to use against this very offensive setup. Any thoughts?

i can give you advice but can you play these formations? it's better to combine formations with your best players in. next time send photo with your players quality-positions. to block him back you can use dl/dr/2dc and dmc with blue arrow. also effective can be 3dc and dml/dmr with red arrows. in front you just need 2 strikers. so you can play 4-1-3w-2, 4-1-1-2w-2 or 3n-2w-1-2w-2 normal mentality, mixed passing through the flanks, normal tackl, no trap, own area press, no counter

Thanks for the tips. As I said, I have a full squad of qood quality players in any position, so I can choose almost every formation/ don't have an AML only/. My best players are probably my two strikers, but I don't think it will be wise playing them both vs such an offensive formation and thus decreasing the number of my midfield players. I might go with a 4-1-3w-1-1 formation, passing through the flanks or mixed, own half pressure.
