Best way to counter world class striker?

Hi all. I'm kind of worried about my next league match. My team is slightly better and should be able to beat opponent, but i see at least 2 major problems: he plays 4-4-2 and he has a world class striker (and this striker scores like mad, he is league top-1 in goals AND assists).

So, what can i do to improve my chances against his mad striker? Does hard tackling help? Should i build up massive defense and switch to man-to-man marking? Any other thoughts? Ideas about formation and orders are greatly appreciated too.
