I agree 4-1-2-1-2ND is strong, but definetely not overpowered plus easy to counter

TEAM HISTORY
Just had this match tonight, solid result. Would have been more if not for poor finishing by my ST's and a poor start.
The first picture shows a 4-5V-1 formation, but I changed to a 3-5V-2 formation and that's what I dominated with. Easy to counter 4-1-2-1-2 since he has no flanking attack whatsoever. So you can afford to have 3 DC's, which give you the option of more power up front (2 ST's). A blue arrow on your DMC is not bad, and reds on your AMR/AML. Probably a normal mentality with normal tackling and counter attack on.
That's how I play it anyway.
Note: This was against similar opposition, so I didn't dominate because of any superior players in my team. Also that after 20 mins it was 0-1 to him whilst I was using 4-5V-1 and he was dominating the stats but changing to 3-5V-2 turned that around completely.

And when this day happens, I will retire, and the world will celebrate long into the night" - Blackkiwi Manager speaking about his elusive Triple.

With the correct player, and that mean simply a good work of testing positions and so, all formations can work, but the best by my viewpoint are 4-4-2/4-3-3/4-3-1-2/4-1-2-1-2/ stability in defense with 4 men and an amount of players as option in attack are a excellent option.
I used a similar tactic to Jans Danek and Blackkiwi in the cup final vs. the Narrow Diamond and had a good result.
My orders: Well I really didn't know what I was doing here, since I usually go attacking with the 3-5-2 V but elected for normal to start here since his quality worried me, and stayed that way since I got a couple early goals. Normal/down the flanks/own half/hard/mixed/zonal - no counter/no offsides. Arrows were reds on DMC, AML and AMR. Blues on my MC's...
Possession was close, 51-49% my advantage...
