So DMC/L/R are not defenders?

I used this setup and got 20% possession.

Taking a look at the color code I kind of understand that they are midfielders, but then why are they not counted towards minimum midfielders for legal formation? Cause AMC/L/R are midfielders, are they not?

..or am I just missing something here? *confused*
