Well, I see this topic is old. OP, just out of curiousity, by your own formation do you mean you played the 4-1-2-1-2 ND to win 4-1.

I would assume the ND is a counter to the 3w-2(MC-MC)-3w-2, since it a strong central attacking formation against a formation which has little defense in the middle, but this is nordeus so who knows how the game engine is programmed.
