Hey guys. My opponent is playing 3DC, 2DML and DMR, 2MC, 1AMC, 2ST. What is the best formation to counter this? It's a very key league match and could decide the winner of the league. I won a treble last season and I want to do it again this season.

This is a general guide ( do it yourself formation ) so I would really appreciate not to ask here for a specific formation but generally talking about using formations & orders.

    Flank attack or middle?
4-5-1 V it's 4D-1DMC-2MC-AML-AMR-ST so of course you 'll go from the flanks with your AML-AMR unless you se that it's not working (DML, DMR have high rates and many tackling, so switch from the middle)

very informative as always will take particular interest in your philosophy for building counters ,thanks as always Dars

hiya was just wondering if youd any tips on how to set up vs the team ive put up its aa 5 -2-2w-1 formation like a 451 but extra defender n no dmc, i was thinking 3n-2dml/r-2mc-1 amc-st ,im a bit stronger but think using mixed focus will lose some possession but since hes no dmc hed be vulnerable to mixed balls,i can then revert to a 451v to defend any lead thanking you~Darren

I usually use 3N-1-4-2 or 3N-1-5-1, going through the middle, against wide diamond. The ML/MR and DL/DR gang up on your AML/AMR players so making them ineffective. He's left the centre midfield vacant so the 2MC or 3MC on the formations I use get forward in support of the STs.

    hmm, interesting question

    First you check his squad
take a look at his DL-DR.
If they have some goals or assists maybe he use them with attack arrows.
The same with DML-DMR (if he has a formation with those two positions).
    Are they defending players ? DL-DML or attackers too ? DL-ML-AML ?
Do they score or giving assists (playing as wingers) ?
If not and he uses DML-3DC-DMR-2MC-AMC-2ST style formations, you can set only 3DC-1DMC in your defense.
If they are winger/attackers too, then you must have winger backs too (a 4D+1DMC better).

If he has ML-MR , you must use DL-DR anyway.

If oppo use a formation with only one ST (4-5-1V, 4-4-1-1) , check his quality and stats.
If he isn't so good, you can set only one DC to confront him.
If he is very good, set 2DCs.

Check if oppo has some F-K specialist with a lot of goals. If he has, maybe a good strategy is to set easy tackling.

Does your oppo watching his games ?
When you 're a final 8 or semis, visit the games of the other pair (better without supporting anyone )
    Who 's in ?
Also a high percentage at ball possession usually is a sign that only one manager is watching the game.
If oppo is watching, be prepared for a plan B.
Also you must take a look from time to time (in your game) if he switched his formation.
Check his roster. What formations can he play ?
He plays 4-4-2 ND or 4-3-3 maybe, but does he has also good AML-AMR in his team ?

Check his previous games in the competition. Which formation gave him hard times ?

If he 's active and switching formations, you may set a "decoy" formation before your final.
Set a 4-3-3ST so maybe he 'll use DC and 3-4 min before the game, switch to wingers.
Or set wingers and if he uses 1DC-1DMC, switch to 3ST or ND.

Check his finance. If it's a wealthy team, remember to set a lv3 or lv4 win bonus so to confront a possible high bonus of his side.

If he has a lot of friends in his games, make a call to your friends for your final (post some reminder too).

Being present in the game is very important so if it's semi final, you must adjust the time of your home game, to be sure you 're gonna watch it.
A "dirty" trick is to check his country and time zone and switch your hour in a "difficult" hour for him if you have a very different hour.
But don't do that in the first game or else he 'll pay back this in his home game.
