    Normal/Counter Attack/High Pressure

My question is just about the mix of
    Team Mentality: Normal
    Force Counterattack: On
    Pressing Style: High

My main question is mixing a high pressing style with normal and counterattack. I've never done it before and it's generally paired with attacking/offside

I'm away but stronger so I went with Normal (I'm favorited) 90.2 vs 97.9

    I'm playing against a 3w-3n-3w-1
I contemplated playing a 4-4-2 ND to exploit the lack of DMC
Still not against playing that formation but not as experienced with ND. Have only used it a couple times in the last couple seasons when I absolutely had to.
So I'm leaning towards a 4-5-1V as my AML and AMR are very good and tend to get a ton of goals and assists.
AMR can play AMC so I don't mind that much there. He's my big goal scorer as a shadow striker and some ridiculous skill sets.
The AML is ML/AML but he's my corner specialist and has been averaging about a goal and an assist a game.
AMR/AMC has been averaging 1.5-2 goals a game.

So I'd like to have both and I figured with high pressure I could take advantage of his 3w in the back with no DMC.

My next concern is he has 6 midfield players to my 5. I mean.... his formation is slightly ridiculous but if it works then it works and he's second in his league so obviously he's doing something right. I beat him before (It's a CL group stage match) but he ran
    DL----DC---DR
    ---------------------
    --MC-MC-MC--
    AMR-AMC
    -----ST--ST

So I ran a 4-1-3w-1-1 and won 3-0 at home and just took advantage of his slightly open right side.

Anyways, that's all the information I can give. Sorry for the long winded post, just wanted to get all the info out there.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks for any help

My main question is mixing a high pressing style with normal and counterattack.
no, the meaning of counter attack is to play defense and low, let oppo players to come into your area and after gaining the ball, counter back.

I may be wrong overall but playing like this 95% of the times (normal/counter/high press) did not prevent me from winning trebles. To me, counter attack means you play direct football and not defensive: you go straight to goal instead of building up your attacks with a passing-based style of play. It's good for fast players but has a bad impact on the pass completed %.

I agree, but I think its important to make a distinction between (i) how your team actually plays on the field, and (ii) what your orders are. My experience is that its the former that matter the most.

Like for example, if you play offensive, high pressure, against a team that has 30-40% on you, you will get plenty of opportunities to counter attack too. Like I am at around 115% and I can face teams around 25-30% in league and CL, even if I play defensive, low pressure and counter-attack, I will not get that many good counter attacks since I have the ball 80% of the time. Which makes sense.

For me Counter Attacks comes down to a pretty binary decision. Against some oppositions you seem to give up a lot more than you create with them, against others its the opposite. I have had a pretty hard time to figure them out, but in some games its obvious that you get a certain type fast attacks you don't get without them, and in others you get a lot of those turn-overs that are pretty risky. But in the end, the decision is about noting if Counter Attacks will give me more chances or lead to more turnovers.

Why does Normal mentality with counter attack work so well then?
I may be wrong overall but playing like this 95% of the times (normal/counter/high press) did not prevent me from winning trebles.
    - This is something I 've read in the forum before a long time.
it's not my idea, I just followed it before 1-2 years and it was successful for me
    - Has to do more with "real" football", when a weaker team is trying to get a good result from a strong opponent

    - Sometimes, assistant manager gives advice for tactics/orders. It doesn't mean he is always right but it seems he is just an "expression" of the program/calculation. So we can see how it thinking sometimes, to confirm things we 're saying,/ suggesting here.
For example, when oppo doesn't have DMs, I prefer long pass . I had (forgot) this orders in the next game too, where my oppo had DMC. Many times ass.manager mentioned in those games, to switch my long passing. So with that I confirmed that doesn't fit.

    - Orders has to do with what formation (mostly orders) oppo is setting his team too.
Gizzmo usually playing with a "weak" team so this attracts oppo to play normal/attack ment.
My team is above avg. so most of my opponents set defense ment. (guessing of course).
So with that "trick" {play defense and low, let oppo players to come into your area and after gaining the ball, counter back.}, I can "brake" their defense.

There are the "basic" rules but then every match is different depending from oppo setting, your players and a "good" day

I am playing for almost 3 yrs and i confess i still not understand exactly what "Force CounterAttacks" does

In real football Niko is right, it means : "the meaning of counter attack is to play defense and low, let oppo players to come into your area and after gaining the ball, counter back."

In this game, hmm, i tend to agree more with Gizzmo : "counter attack means you play direct football and not defensive: you go straight to goal instead of building up your attacks with a passing-based style of play. It's good for fast players but has a bad impact on the pass completed %."

i've done lately a couple of friendlies with oponents 1 or 2 lvls above ( 10-30% above me ).
First half i played defensive, low press, force CA, offsaid off. I always had the possesion but i was loosing 1-0 and beeing dominated at shots.
Second half, switched to offensive, high press, no Ca, offsaid on. I won all the matches. It's a totally different story when i play much lower quality teams....

Mixing High press with force CA seems very ilogical but it's still a game...
