i have no idea, i can only see the team what i run and what i see is that i have 1 8 stars player, all the others 7 stars and 1 6 stars, average strenght of a team is 129%, so to say, if an average strenght at the levels over 40th is 90% and the players become stars at 100%, they become 7 stars at 120% and 8 stars at 140%, lets say i am very strong at the moment.
Small dick guys area in red, blue and green.
I did that, I won that...blah-blah-blah...
Last season I faced teams above my level all the way to the cup final. Tactics were the only thing that kept me in. I just disagree with you, based on personal experience.

OP is correct about strength of team being a big factor in determining "wins", "losses" and "draws." What needs to be defined is, just how powerful a team must be for that strength to be overpowering? It also can apply to individual players, especially if they are say, a FK specialist w/ 200%+ shooting or a Corner specialist with 200%+ crossing. The ability to punish a team from set-pieces can go along way to get a positive result out of a match, even if the opponent is playing the so-called counter-formation.
Thing is, even with the correct counter being used, the players still need to win there individual match ups. Good coaching puts them in a positive where its easier to succeed, but if your opponent has Messi or Ronaldo, you're still in big trouble.

Level 40 Manager
I have good players this season for playing this style of formation, but no matter what i do i get hammered when going 4-5-1 v or 4-3-2-1 , excellent AMR/AML , AMC , Striker, Midfield, good CB and FB, but as soon as i go this formation my Defence falls apart as dose my GK. By the way i have two very strong GK, All my training schedules get excellent reports form my Assistant. Guru ...ect. But still poor against even or slightly better opposition.
Would i be best going defensive or Normal ?
