how to counter 4-5-1

Try using some AMC/AMR/AML. Hard to say. If you could have posted a SS of the opponent's formation.

I do not think there is a proper counter to 4-5-1V: that might be the reason why I play it for 25 seasons 90% of the time . You may win but you better be prepared to lose ! On the other hand, I can suggest what you should NOT do: avoid 4-4-2 classic and make sure you have either DML/R or better DL/DR. 3 MC might help or maybe something like 4-2MC-3WAM-1, which I never challenge with 4-5-1V.

i find it difficult to win against 4-1-2-1-2 diamond with the 4-5-1 v style

totally agree with gizzmo hard to counter 451v and like the man say avoid 442classic. So you can try 442 or 43mc21.

actually i am 451v usual user , i play against 442 never lose ..
i am thinking u means 451flat or 451v style ?
anyway u can try 4141 def counter or 361 butterfly , only this 2 formation i worry when i use 451v

I think you asking counter against 4-5-1 flat not 4-5-1v, I didn't see any 'v' on your threat title or on your post. Anyway, counter for 4-5-1 flat, use :
3-5-2v or 3-5-2 flat
