Against 442 flat i started using below formation / tactics:
    4-2mc-3w-1
    Up arrows amr/l, dr/l.
    Down arrows DCs, MCs.
Normal or attacking, mixed passes, counter.
Zone, low pressing (maybe high after 60min)

Till now I have only wins.

Yes i have used this against better oppo as well, and i use mixed passes.

I think this formation will give you some away goals that will help you progress

Hmmm!!!! Nice one u have there I think dis formation is flexible, can easily swith to a 4_5_1 v formation and also to a 3_1_4_2 formation which is my favorite

Yes, I never lose to 4-4-2 C teams with 4-5-1V, even better teams. I play attack, mixed pass, flank, whole or own pitch depend on your opponents.
I don't think 3-1-4-2 is good again 4-4-2, 3DCs an 1 DMC is no enough for his 2 STs, ML and MR (with red arrow).

I rarely win 4-4-2 with 4-5-1V (specially if oppo is semi-abandoned team without a coach).
my reserves, ManU staying in the same lv.
It's secured now so I set my normal team (except one player but he was injured and subbed) vs a team who used some 3* veterans given to complete the 14th squad at the end of the season.
I didn't watch he game, orders was def/counter flanks
Oppo also didn't watch, his orders must be from previous (or more) month
    Draw
