I am playing at a lower level (3) and noticed that a lot of teams that maintain a consistent formation and set of players perform very well as opposed to my attempts at countering formations. Most times my overall starting 11 quality is better than theirs but I usually end up struggling for a win, lose or come from behind to draw.

So is it maybe wise to consistently play the same formation regardless of the opposition's style? Afterall if your MC is much better than the opponent's MC, he should be bossing the midfield.
