bizarre 4-1 mc - 4 aml amc amc amr - 1 formation

he is 10% better than me. but he has lost this season i still unbeaten. i beat this formation twice against him 2 seasons or so ago but cant remember the formation but do remember my team being pretty much equal strength wise.
im not sure whether to play usual 3 at back dmc 4 midfielders to overrun his one and focus on cutting supply off the attacking midfielders. he scores big wins v lesser teams but his record against the stronger ones isnt great to be fair. just a dangerous line up to face if i get it wrong they score early etc.
or play 3 dc dml dmc dmr 2 mc 1 amc 1 striker like i have done last 2 games v stronger teams and won 1-0 both times?
any ideas chaps?

3dc - 3 (dml-dmc-dmr)- 2mc-1amc -1 st ?
Play short or mix pass in middle, with red arrows to Dml-Dmr 2 Mc & AMC.

yep, i played that formation and I was destroyed by 442 with 4-0 and I was 20% better. and it wasn't a troll match

is not a mad formation, with correct arrows will work just fine, played during a season and I won 8 matches until vs 442 , and then another 5 matches, and guess what.... until vs 442 , but this time I lost 2-1 ))) . I hope they didn't change the game engine regarding that.

Formation like: 4-1-1-3-1, 4-0-1-4-1, 4-0-2-3-1, 4-0-1-3-2, 4-1-1-2w-2 etc

Are counter by 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1
I don't like 4-4-2 much but I love my 4-1-4-1

I don't like 4-4-2 much but I love my 4-1-4-1

i play 3-1-4-1-1 usually but if i need 4 at back play 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-1-1 depending on oppo.
