left back, centre back, right back, left midfield, 3 central midfield, right midfield, 2 strikers. it's 3-5-2 with ur defenders spread out to counter his threat from flanks. he is not going to overload your centre half so as long as ur centre half is solid, say like a John Terry, you'll be fine.

as for tactics, hard attacking, down the flanks, hard tackling, pressing whole pitch, man marking, short passing. both counter and offside trap. if you're at home no counter.

If u play hard-attacking, you keep recycling attacks ceaselessly. Attack, if it breaks down, spring a break right away. I should know as with 3 and 4 star players, I've managed to do the treble and won my division in all but one season when I got done on goal difference with both teams on 73 pts.

If you build a comfortable lead, i.e. aggregate score, go 5 at the back, 4 in midfield and 1 forward. use defensive and counter down the flanks. the formation he has, you can only hurt him down the flanks. Just be mindful that unless you score 3, you need to win by 2 clear goals.
