Only system that comes into my mind is 4-5-1 V-style unmotivated flanks, motivated DMC, long ball, defensive mentality, counter attacks, attack down both flanks for the away leg. At home I would try your system with defensive mentality and counters (but have not tried this out yet)

even a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond will lose to 4-4-2 with result 1-3 with both team 5 stars . i dont really understand . if your regular team has at least four star u might got a chance to win . normally scout team can go undefeated in league ... playmaker always give out poor performance and your striker will not be able to break through their defense .
ALL I CAN SAY IS GO DEFENSIVELY AND COUNTER HIM. u can ply 4-1-3N-2

The problem, his opponent is more and more stronger thn him -.- i suggest to use butterfly defensive mentality with counter attack
